Dr. Laurence Lau D.M.D., B.SC., F.I.C.D.
Received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the University of Manitoba and currently divides his time between private practice and teaching students at the Faculty of Dentistry. Teaching since 2002, Dr. Lau has instructed students in a variety of Clinical and Preclinical courses including Pediatric Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, Crown and Bridge, and General Practice.
His practice focuses on Cosmetic Dentistry and has centered his continuing education on expanding his knowledge in multi-disciplinary treatment to better provide for all of his patients needs.
With training in Nitrous Oxide and Conscious Sedation, Dr. Lau is experienced in treating children and helping sensitive patients cope with the anxiety of dental treatment.
During the past fifteen years, Dr. Lau has spent much of his spare time volunteering with Kindness in Action, a non-profit organization that provides dental services in third world countries such as Nicaragua, Guatemala, Venezuela, Tibet, Belize and Peru.
Dr. Kelsey Friesen D.M.D.
Graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Zoology in 1997. He went on to receive a Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry in 2002 and practices general, cosmetic, pediatric, oral surgery, endodontic, and prosthetic dentistry.
Besides creating beautiful smiles at Smiles On Southglen, Dr. Friesen works as a contract dentist for the Federal Government and now divides his time between Smiles On and the northern Manitoba communities he services. He has lived in Winnipeg all his life and enjoys traveling, sports, photography, and film. Dr. Friesen frequently volunteers for Kindness in Action, a charity group that provides dental services for those in need in Central and South America. Dr. Friesen has also worked as a casual clinical instructor for the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Dentistry from 2002-2004.
Ainsley, Office Manager
Ainsley started her career with Smiles On Southglen on our opening day in May 2007. She was brought on fresh out of Red River College’s Registered Dental Assisting program and after assisting for 2 years was promoted to Office Manger. Her experience in multiple aspects of the dental office gives a great advantage in keeping our office running smoothly! Ainsley most enjoys the abundance of personal relationships she has been able to make with our wonderful patients from being able to work so closely with them.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and never misses a Jets game!
Morgan, Dental Hygienist
Since high school Morgan knew she wanted to pursue a career in Dental Hygiene. After completing 2 years in the pre-dental hygiene program at the University of Winnipeg she transferred to the University of Manitoba to complete her diploma in Dental Hygiene.
Morgan loves creating personal connections with her patients and will chat about almost anything but she is also passionate about educating her patients about their oral health.
In her spare time she loves cooking, going to the cabin, and playing any sport from volleyball to hockey!
Brianna, Dental Assistant
Brianna graduated from Red River College’s Dental Assisting program in 2005 and has been with our office since 2011. She is our most senior assistant and can be found helping along side Dr. Friesen throughout the week and also helps keep Dr. Lau’s Orthodontic schedule running smoothly every Thursday!
Brianna loves getting to know her patients and enjoys the personal connections she is able to make with them. She especially loves working with children and helping them feel comfortable with dentistry.
On her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children.
Kymberley, Dental Assistant
Kymberley joined our team in May 2019 and has brought many years experience with her. Having graduated from Red River College in 1999 where she also obtained additional training in periodontics and oral surgery, she continues to annually further her education with various continuing education courses.
Kymberley loves talking with her patients and is also always willing to jump into any operatory when help is needed.
When she is not working side by side with Dr. Daley or Dr. Emir, you will definitely find her at the lake year round spending time with family and friends!
Kristen, Dental Hygienist
Celine, Dental Assistant
Celine joined our team in August 2021 after receiving her Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Certificate from CDI College in June 2021. She has been enjoying starting her career with us and has honed her skills over the past two years providing exceptional care to our patients of all ages! Celine is known for her empathetic nature, always ready to address concerns and alleviate any anxiety patients might have. Celine likes being able to educate our patients, while making them feel comfortable and at ease during their appointment.
When Celine isn’t working she enjoys spending time with her family and animals. She also enjoys working on her macrame projects and spending time outdoors.
